In celebration of #NationalTakeAHikeDay, the SHS Hiking Club visited Mount Magazine State Park in Arkansas last weekend! 🥾⛰️

Students hiked the Benefield East & West Loop and enjoyed incredible fall views of the Petit Jean Valley. After setting up camp, they took an evening hike on the Dripping Springs Trail and ended the night with a family-style fajita dinner. 🌮✨

The next morning, they cooked breakfast and set out on a 6.8-mile loop, reaching Signal Hill, the highest point in Arkansas. Along the way, they learned about the mountain’s rich history, including Native American nations who inhabited the area, French explorers, Civil War impacts, New Deal programs, and modern forest management. 🌄📚Silhouettes of three people sitting side by side, facing a vibrant twilight sky.
